Tyre Manufacturers - Goodyear Tyres

With the US tyre group Goodyear comes a history of more than 130 years. Today the company offers its products with the slogan "Made to feel good". To this day the tyre manufacturer has reached some milestones.This is the story

Frank Seiberling was one of nine children whose father was an inventor which held several patents. In Ohio, in 1898, the son bought an empty factory. In the same year, his brother Charles joined the company. They named their company after the discoverer of the vulcanization Charles Goodyear and decided to start a rubber production.

The milestones of the Group

With the increasing popularity of the automobiles, the demand for Goodyear tyres was on the rise. Ten years after founding the company, the tyres of the T models as well as the Daimler vehicles in Europe were equipped with Goodyear tyres. The Group took the position of the world's largest tyre manufacturer from 1916 onwards and was able to defend it consistently until 1990. The company also began racing tyre production in 1916.After the depression in the early 1920's, the manufacturer started to expand. The expansion started in 1912 over the following decades. In 1954, the first overseas factory was successfully opened in Germany. As a result, further factories were opened in countries such as Slovenia, England and Poland.

The success of the company

On one hand, the success is already evident in the market leadership, which lasted for more than 70 years. In the 1970s, the manufacturer owed its position as a market leader to the power of the radial tyres. Restructuring within the company in the mid-1980s and the continuous pursuit of a vision helped to further expand the success.

The company is in a phase of recovery and further expansion.As a result, the company now has more than 90 plants in 27 countries.The Group's portfolio contains tyre types for a total of six basic models. These include tyres for passenger cars, SUVs, vans, trucks, buses and 4x4s. Regular, independent tyre tests certify Goodyear's good to very good quality.
